Metaport is SKALE's interchain widget. It enables users to transfer tokens directly between SKALE Chains, near-instantly and with zero gas costs. This avoids the delays and fees of transferring tokens via Ethereum mainnet, and allows SKALE users to access dApps on any chain easily.
Metaport has been integrated within the Ruby.Exchange user interface, so that users from dApps and chains all over the SKALEVERSE can trade and LP tokens on the leading AMM on SKALE.
To open Metaport, click the lightning bolt icon towards the right hand side of the top menu.
The Metaport panel will open in the bottom right of the website.
Select your origin and destination SKALE Chains for your transfer from the dropdown menus. Once you have selected your chains, you will be able to select from a list of tokens supported for transfer, or if there is only one relevant token supported on the destination chain, it will be displayed.
Enter the amount you want to transfer. If it is your first transfer, you will need to give Metaport access to that token by clicking APPROVE ALL and confirming the transaction in MetaMask.
Transferring ERC20 tokens like USDC takes just two clicks: One to approve the token for use with Metaport, and another to make the transfer. When you are transferring ETH across chains, two additional steps are required. This is because ETH is a special case and, just like on Ethereum mainnet, needs to be wrapped so that it can be treated as a regular ERC20 token.
Finally, click TRANSFER, and confirm the transaction in MetaMask.
The transfer will take place immediately and should complete in a few seconds. You can check that your tokens have arrived by switching chains using the double arrow icon between origin and destination chains, or by opening MetaMask and switching chains to the target chain. (Make sure that you have imported the token id into MetaMask or it will not be displayed).
